Praying Is Weird

God knows our thoughts, feelings and motives. He knows the uncompromised truth about all situations. He loves those we care about more deeply and completely than we are capable. So why pray? What is the point of telling God anything?

When we spend time with people, we are in conscious contact with them.  When we are in prayer, we are in conscious contact with God, actively spending time with our Creator. This ability to be in God’s direct presence is a gift and a privilege! (Heb 4:14-15.) Our prayers are precious to God. (Revelation 5:8 and 8:3.) Ephesians 6:18 tells us to pray in the Spirit on all occasions – to make it a point to stay aware and in contact.

Throughout scripture, God asks many questions. Jesus asked many questions. God obviously doesn’t need answers! He does, however, constantly remind us to be aware of and engaged with Him. If you struggle to pray, a good way to begin is by responding to God’s questions in scripture. One place you might start is Luke 24:38.
